The Position:
• To organize and administer the overhaul and repair of Emirates aircraft and engine components and Powerplant in a cost effective manner, ensuring the highest quality standards and the lowest possible cost in order to reduce aircraft maintenance cost.
To ensure the process of preliminary technical inspection of unserviceable components before Repair Order authorization in order to (a) establish the condition, extent of defects and the repairs requirement, and (b) develop an idea of the repair costs in order to be able to effectively negotiate with the Repair Agencies for better deals.
Job Outline
• Review, analyze and investigate Invoices for repair, in order to ensure that repair charges are invoiced as per work scope, and work actually carried out. In case of fixed repair contracts to ensure that no additional repair charges are paid unless explicitly justified.
• Overview the Repair Process Area and carry out inspection and review of all major Unserviceable components and parts for their condition and the repair work requirements, to be able to establish the economic reparability of the components before committing them for repairs/ overhaul.
• Inspect and review unserviceable components and parts to establish beyond economic repair (BER) to be able to take steps to scrap (scrap on the system for repairable/expendable parts, raise scrap notes for repairable/ rotables), and where economically feasible, take necessary salvage action.
• Ensure that all the Repair Orders are raised after following the proper methods and procedures, incorporating and transferring data and records to/from the M&E System, to enable subsequent co-ordination, negotiation and follow up (by Repair Officers/ Co-coordinators) are informative, and effective.
• Review, analyze and evaluate the quotations and TAT with Repair Agencies for component overhaul and repair, based on the work scope and shop findings in order to make appropriate, cost effective decisions.
• Co-coordinating with Repair Agencies for work-in progress in respect of Powerplant and major components, to agree/ change work scope, and negotiate exchange of components where required, in order to (a) optimize the repair costs, and (b) to ensure meeting operational requirements.
• Study, review and specify the technical specifications and other requirements of the Repair Contracts Proposals, and advise Component Repairs & Logistics Manager, or Manager Contracts (P&L), accordingly for necessary changes and/or incorporations so as to be able to avail best deals and protect Emirates interests.
