Our client, a leading Oil and Gas services company, is looking for suitable candidates to join their Remote Support team. The role they are looking to fill - Systems Admin/Engineer - is based in Houston and is responsible for providing systems, software and operations support for Data Processing Systems at remote and mobile datacentres on an international scale.
Key Requirements
Responsibilities:
Providing systems, software and operations support for Data Processing Systems located outside of Houston, through the use of remote tools and onsite visits
Installation and support of hardware/software in Data Processing Centres, Land Crews and Marine Vessels
Participating as part of a remote support team providing e-mail and phone support to staff at these Centres
Participating in the logistical planning for new Centres and upgrades
Providing training to remote site personnel on basic hardware support of Data Processing systems
Monitoring system performance and ensure that systems are available to users within acceptable targets
Providing limited supervision of more junior staff
Providing documentation to remote personnel to assist in the performing of technical procedures

Experienced Linux Systems Administrator Education Requirements: BSc in an IT-related subject (relevant experience also considered) Application Requirements: Hands-on knowledge of IT hardware and troubleshooting methodology As a minimum, a basic working knowledge of the Windows operating system is needed RedHat certifications would be beneficial Must be willing to travel to regional Data Processing Centres, marine vessels and land crews throughout North and South America. Additional necessary skills: *Strong technical ability to work with computers and operating systems *Excellent communication skills (written and oral). *Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. *Should be able to identify and provide solutions to systems issues.
