Job Description
*PROJECT MANAGER - LABORATORY* Our client is a leading engineering contractor operating on a global scale. They are currently working on a new and modern R&D facility. This facility is based in China and our client is searching for a Project Manager with an Architectural background to lead their design team. The Project Manager, who will report directly to the Project Director, will be responsible for the management and supervision of a widely varied group made up of both local and international consultants. The Project Manager will also provide and facilitate the crucial tie between clients, consultants and local design teams. Upon completion of the design, the Project Manager is expected to shift into the procurement support and construction phase of the project. Role requirements: *Assuming a leading role in all meetings with team members, consultants and the LDI (Local Design Institute) *Monitor scheduling issues relating to the designs and proactively providing solutions *Review all design submissions at critical milestones in the project plan alongside the technical team. Feedback must also be provided for unsatisfactory work of any kind *Coordinate the interfaces associated with a number of architectural components including glass walls, curtain walls, marble work, metal cladding, architectural detailing, etc *Support and assist the Project Director when producing the Project Quality Plan. Such elements that must be included are method statements, work instructions, procedures and Inspection & Test plans *Supervise inspections and testing throughout the project, whilst also reviewing said inspections Education, Qualification & Experience requirements: *Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, or similar *The ideal candidate will preferably be a registered architect *At least 15 years of post-graduate experience in building design and architecture (previous work experience in China is advantageous) *Highly proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office without support and supervision *3D and BIM software experience is beneficial In addition to these qualifications, candidates should also have previous experience with managing a group of consultants in order to meet difficult deadlines. Furthermore, experience with multinational design companies based in China is desirable. The Project Manager should be self-motivated and able to lead a multi-disciplinary team. You should have strong communication skills, and be able to communicate with all levels (the ability to speak Mandarin is advantageous) The Project Manager must also have a strong ability to motivate and train team members.
