The energy modelling engineer will play a key role in the company's 'Specifiers Initiative' i.e. He/she will provide direct support to specifiers with a view to strengthening Trane's relationship, reputation and influence over designs and specifications with the ultimate aim of securing a greater share of business. The platform for this will be the deployment and support of Trane's Trace 700 Energy Modelling Software.
The Energy Modelling Engineer will also endeavour to have Trace 700 accepted by regulatory authorities and leading educational institutions as the preferred energy modelling software.
In addition, the Energy Modelling Engineer will provide direct support to the various sales teams to strengthen proposals through the application of appropriate modelling, reporting and presentations.
The Energy Modelling Engineer will function as a core member of the systems sales team, responsible for the complete modelling and simulation of Building Energy Use using proprietary Trane Trace 700 Building Simulation Software in both existing and new buildings for different market segments (Healthcare, Data Centres, Offices, Industrial etc).
The Energy Modelling Engineer is also responsible for supporting consulting engineers to design and optimize HVAC installations using Trane HVAC equipment, systems and controls. As such, the Energy Modelling Engineer must have in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems and their components, computer simulation tools, energy consumption profiles in buildings, utility rates, engineering economics and cost savings opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
Function as a key member of the systems sales team.
Expert use of the full suite of Trane Trace700 simulation software (including pipework, ducting, acoustics etc)
Effectively support Consulting Engineers and Customers in Building Simulation analysis
Effectively analyse and assess the economic impact of different HVAC systems, solutions, equipment and controls as well as heating and cooling production.
Effectively develop and perform customer presentations to demonstrate the benefits of Trace 700 and Trane HVAC solutions
Coach and train other members of the team in all aspects of building simulation and energy consumption
Actively explore relevant new technologies (renewables, thermal storage etc) and their impact on building energy use
Consistently meet short and long-term deadlines.
