Senior Manufacturing Engineer Job May 14th 2012, 09:50 JOB PURPOSE Measure, analyze, improve and control the processes by defining procedures and conducting process trials/improvement projects, approved by management, in order to achieve continual improvement in productivity, product quality and process capability thereby resulting in financial benefits. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS • Prepare, review and recommend changes in machine operating procedures and process specifications for all machines on the site, in accordance with QEMS and ISO standards, in order to maintain consistency or improve process performance and communicating the same across all sites. • Select, inspect new plant machinery/equipment and assist m/c suppliers in commission or refurbishing and upgrading of existing machinery to enhance production capacity or process capability. Also, to follow outstanding issues, if any, with the m/c suppliers. • Conduct production/process capability studies and execute improvement projects (using methodologies like Six Sigma) and process trials to achieve continual improvement in products or processes and communicating the same across all sites. • Study/Monitor and guide process engineers to solve process related problems to achieve the weekly production targets and groom them towards succession contingencies. • Conduct process audits in plant and at supplier's end in order to ensure conformance to the company's quality standards. • To evaluate systems with in production and correct these where required and formulate reports as a reference tool. • To establish, motivate, participate in and lead (as appropriate) project teams to carry out specific tasks, including feasibility studies and expansion programmes, in pursuit of the Company's objectives. • To formulate and prepare business proposals, plans, CEA's and budgets in support of the Company's short, medium and long term objectives. • To facilitate the formulation and subsequent implementation of improvement initiatives designed at creating greater manufacturing efficiency in order to minimise cost per unit output.
