Materials Technologist Job May 14th 2012, 09:50 JOB PURPOSE To supervise production of PVC compound and evaluate new materials to enable required quantity of PVC to be manufactured in a cost effective manner and develop new compounds. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS • Assist in formulation development and supervise material trials to increase product range and/or enhance product quality. • To co-ordinate the manufacturing resources to produce the required product at the required time and in the most efficient manner possible. • To identify & take action to eliminate manufacturing constraints and areas of waste to reduce scrap and minimise cost per unit. • To prepare and maintain process / machine operating instructions & quality system documentation to ensure all are accurate, up to date, complete & meet ISO requirements. • To implement the inspection, installation and commissioning of any new or additional plant, including the liaison with external parties to improve the PVC compounding manufacturing process. • To monitor, report & recommend action for all aspects of PVC plant process and product test data to enable process and product improvements to be made. • Train and lead PVC plant operators to ensure succession contingencies are in place.
