Assistant Chief Engineer - Hotel Job - Executive Solutions Apr 2nd 2012, 08:55 Our client is a world-class property opening in the second quarter of 2012 in Dubai. The hotel will feature 381 guest rooms and suites. A total of eight food and beverage outlets on property will offer international dining options including Szechwan cuisine, a Brazilian steak house plus separate cigar and wine bars. The property will be positioned as a Luxury Hotel joining other internationally branded hotels on the 'island', which will generate tremendous anticipation both in the UAE and worldwide. In addition, the high regard that the client brand is afforded in the region will result in very high expectations for flawless service delivery from day-one. To coordinate and manage the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel as it pertains to engineering, under the direction of the Chief Engineer.To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and colleagues. To assist in the assessment of training needs.To train and instruct other members of staff by passing along your knowledge and skills. Ability to analyse problems and formulate plans to get work done effectively and efficiently. To write routine reports, logs and correspondence as well as communicating effectively with customers and associates. •Direct supervision and scheduling of the work force •All preventive maintenance programmes •All repair and maintenance work orders •Inventories and procurement of parts and supplies •Accident prevention and safety •Neatness and cleanliness of the engineering workshop and all areas under the direct control of the department •Proper orientation, training and development of department associates. •Utilise the tools of quality in department planning and problem solving efforts, as appropriate •Conduct daily team briefings •Maintaining rooms maintenance strategy •Maintaining tracking data, check sheet and logs •Planning and scheduling preventive maintenance •Planning and scheduling corrective maintenance •Regular Inspections •Lead or otherwise facilitate the transfer of information regarding priorities, assignments, and problem solving at the various briefing sessions each day. •To observe and analyse energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds •To be available for any emergencies •To be aware of all existing Job Safety Analysis and work towards an accident-free safe working environment with a view to conservation •To read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges and other measuring units as well as maintaining relevant logs for each •Adhere to H&S Guidelines to ensure personal safety •Annually perform inspections of necessary machinery •Assure proper testing and maintenance of emergency generators, test battery pack, emergency lighting, exit signage, elevator operation under emergency •Maintain highest standards for the maintenance and safe operation of issued tools and equipment •Perform health, safety & loss prevention projects as assigned •Representation on Health & Safety Committee, with specific involvement in maintaining a safe work environment, by ensuring the completion of incident investigations and workplace inspections •Complies with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts policies, procedures and code of ethics •Performs any and all other tasks which are assigned by management •Upholds the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times •Monthly inventory and ordering of all first aid supplies for the hotel and maintaining the first aid room •Review monthly departmental health & safety audits and follow-up accordingly •Conduct monthly radio audits and streamline the process to increase individual departmental accountability •Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when the situation arises •Be an active colleague of the Fairmont Palm Jumeirah team in our mission of 'Turning Moments into Memories' for our guests.
