RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Doing the survey work under the direction and guidance of the Chief of Surveyor.
- Establishing primary horizontal and vertical control points including reference ties for re-establishing the points in the field.
- Supervising the survey party staff.
- Rotating staff assignments to develop the skills and qualifications of the Surveyors.
- Recording measurements, rod readings, and calculations in field books as the work progresses.
- Coordinating with the Contractor's surveyor on work priorities and schedules.
- Checking the work by competing traverse closures and bench circuits.
- Reporting discrepancies or technical problems to the Resident Engineer.
- Jointly measuring the completed work for payment.
- Checking completed work for conformance to the line and grade required by the project plans in coordination with the inspector assigned to that item of work.
- Checking the Contractor's setting out to verify execution and accuracy.
Maintaining the survey equipment in proper condition and checking the calibration frequently.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma in Land Surveying
8 Years Experience, of which at least 5 in medium to large-scale highway projects
Must have full knowledge of the land surveying theory and applications
Must have used the common types of surveying equipment
Knowledge of computer software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is a plus
Must have safety awareness and training.
