Title: CNC Programmer / Operator
Department: Manufacturing
Reporting To: Production Manager
Job Purpose
To collate, check and convert soft and hard copy drawing files into CNC and saw files. Assist and carry out duties as set out by the area supervisor and Manager to ensure company policies, procedures and objectives are adhered to and met on a continual basis.
Principal Accountabilities
Quality
1. Maintain high quality levels while promoting a quality-focused culture among the staff.
2. Ensure best manufacturing methodology is used in all processes.
3. Ensure programmes are created and adhere to the highest quality standards.
4. Ensure all relevant documentation is filled out as per company procedures.
5. Create and upkeep necessary quality and training documentation relevant to the area of work.
6. Maintain and promote high standards in house keeping.
Productivity / Output
1. Analyse and process logically collected design data into compatible CNC files.
2. Monitor specific details of programmes to insure tolerances are met and adhered to.
3. Monitor spindle speed, feed rate, tool motions /changes to insure safe but optimum run times are always achieved.
4. In conjunction with other departments integrate all collected data into a project plan that satisfies production and project master plan's time lines for all CNC and Double Mitre Saw operations.
5. Control output of machines and monitor efficiencies and waste.
6. Distribution of weekly planned work list.
7. Visualise all tool motions, recognise restricting factors and carry out timing simulations with use of intergraded machine software.
8. Report findings that may have a negative impact on production or design to the relevant manager.
9. Develop risk assessments, training documentation, work instructions and procedures for CNC and Double Mitre Saw.
10. Carry out quality checks.
11. Support and when required carry out any training programmes requested by your direct manager in accordance with company policy.
12. Develop and maintain bar coding of all profiles to allow for product traceability.
13. Control saw optimisation in conjunction with the design team to minimise raw material waste.
14. Liaise with other departments as necessary eg production, design, maintenance etc.
15. Develop a PM plan for all equipment under your supervision with the maintenance department and machinery suppliers.
16. Maintain company facilities, plant and equipment to an appropriate standard.
17. Carry out additional manufacturing tasks as business needs dictate.
18. Display a "can do" company and customer focused approach at all times when representing the company.
