Job Description
SENIOR CONTRACTS ENGINEER - POWER PLANT - SAUDI, TAX FREE!! The energy business group of my client has been awarded an Owner's Engineering Services contract in Saudi Arabia, for a large Power Plant. The project site is located south of Jeddah at the Red Sea and its modern and highly efficient power generation equipment, will provide much needed power for the development of the local industrial and domestic sectors. My client will be providing Consultancy and Engineering Services to their well respected client for this Power & Desalination Plant. They now require a Senior Contracts Engineer to join them on this prestigious project. Based at site your duties will include, but not be limited to; Contract Review * Review tender contract, create, update and maintain checklist template * Co-ordinate feedback session with Project Manager, Site Manager and Client regarding key legal contract ramifications & issues concerning company * As necessary liaise with Company Lawyer, for clarification and direction about legal aspects and liabilities. * As necessary prepare correspondence requesting Client to provide amendments to the original contract. * Liaise with Project Manager, Site Manager and Client for obtaining agreement and contract sign off. Contract Administration * Prepare the summary matrix of contract clauses in the system. * Prepare contract templates if required based on the contract. * In conjunction with Project Manager and Site manager review contractual obligations and contract templates. * Attend weekly site meetings providing advice re: NOD's, EOT's, Sub contracts, and or Supplier Agreements required for the job. * In conjunction with Project Manager and Site Manager prepare and forward relevant notices within nominated timeframes. * Maintain and update NOD and EOT register * Notify client formally where issues, special circumstances or breaches of contract have taken place. * Liaise with Project Manager, Site manager, Contractor and subcontractors to ensure all relevant insurances are current and legal, i.e. workers compensation. * Review contracts, for suppliers and subcontractors, highlighting relevant issues specific to the job. * Notify Contractor and subcontractors formally if issues or special circumstances and or where breaches of contract take place. * Update and maintain contract register highlighting payment conditions. Claim Investigations / Special Projects * Investigate unpaid claims by client to establish responsibility based on contract provisions or onsite errors. * In conjunction with Project Manager and Site manager determine and agree relevant course of action for unpaid claims, advising client accordingly * Finalise claim investigation and update information in the system. * Provide response to invoices for damage and follow up and finalise claim. * Assist and work with Project Manager and Site manager on special projects. Systems Support * Prepare instructions/procedures and enter into system. * Keep procedures and work instructions consistent with changes to workflow. * In-conjunction with Site Team, regularly review procedures/work instructions etc. for currency and relevance. * Stay informed and up to date with any changes relating to Standards/Regulations, Applicable legislations and Construction Contracts Cross Functional Support / Training * Actively support the Project Manager and Site Manager in the day to day management of the project. * Be prepared to assist other Company Personnel as required/requested. * As required, become involved in "on the job training" of others. * Participate in any other relevant/appropriate training programs as requested by the company. Required Capabilities and Qualifications Education: Bachelor Degree or higher in Engineering from a reputable university Experience: Well versed with FIDIC's Turnkey/EPC Contracts and proficient in MS Office. You will ideally have a minimum of 15 years of experience in multi-discipline and multi-national projects, with at least 10 years of experience as a Contract Engineer on large Projects. The successful Contracts Engineer will ideally have experience of working in the Middle East, in particular Saudi Arabia. You should be a team player and demonstrate good communication skills.
